Hello, welcome to my webpage!

I’m Sevde, a political economist specializing in international trade, industrial policy, and geoeconomics. My journey has taken me across the globe—from Turkey to South Korea, to the United States—where I’ve worked in diverse, multicultural environments, bridging academia and international organizations.

Currently, I am the Korea in Global Affairs postdoctoral fellow at the American University’s School of International Service in Washington, DC. My work explores the impact of US industrial policy on Korea’s global companies. By applying advanced empirical methods, I analyze how these companies navigate and respond to supply chain diversification strategies, offering insights that are increasingly relevant in today’s interconnected global economy.

I also serve as a consultant at the World Bank East Asia and Pacific Chief Economist Research Center where I contribute to a research project analyzing how U.S. decoupling from China affects innovation in the region.

I earned my PhD in International Studies from Seoul National University and previously taught a graduate-level course on quantitative research methods at Sookmyung Women’s University.

I invite you to explore my work, connect with me for collaborations, or simply follow my latest professional developments.
